J.D. Miller Young Activist Award 2026

Ends on

Eligible: ISTA members

This award recognizes Association activism and engagement within the first five years of an educator’s career. It is named in honor of Jeffrey “J.D.” Miller, a past state president of ISEA (now ISTA Aspiring Educators), who demonstrated tremendous promise as an Association advocate and leader before his untimely passing. Nominees may be put forward by any active ISTA member, or they may self-nominate with the endorsement of one additional active ISTA member. Applications must detail the nominee’s activism aligned with ISTA’s strategic goals: Professional Respect, Quality Public Education, Teaching & Learning, Policy Making, and Public/Community Support.

Nomination deadline is March 1 with the award presentation to be scheduled at an ISTA event, determined by the ISTA President. The ISTA Governance Committee will evaluate and make recommendations to the board.
